Let There Be Lamps

The shop is a lot brighter, even on cloudy days like today, thanks to a growing number of lamps consigned to us. Here are a few for your consideration. At left is a fairly rare Aynsley Pembroke Fine China table lamp made in England. The Pembroke pattern was Aynsley's most popular pattern in their dinnerware. These lamps are out of production and quite hard to find. A quick web search turned up a few...but they were all in Europe. According to the consignor, this lamp (and the one at the right) are about 30 years old. The lamp at right is also an Aynsley Pembroke, but is slightly larger, with a different base.
The two lamps at left are also from Europe and date back to the 1950s. Both are made of brass, and should polish up nicely. The red shades exhibit some wear considering their age. These two will need to have the plugs replaced as the original European plugs are still attached.

Cute little table top lamp with a stained glass shade and a candleabra bulb gives off a wonderful array of colors when lit. Despite its delicate appearance, this lamp has a heavy, solid metal base.

Pictured to the left is one of a pair of Oriental style jar lamps. These tall table lamps feature an ivory color body with a raised pattern of delicate flowers. They are supported by a gold metal base. At first glance, they appear to be Lenox, but we were not able to determine the maker.

Finally, we have this adorable, vintage ceramic girl lamp. Standing only about 15 inches tall, this cutie will brighten any little girl's room.

April News & Additions

Hard to believe I let a month slip by without a post, but then again, when you're in Florida, you tend to let things slide.

First, let's get to the big news at A Beautiful Find. We are now accepting credit cards using the Square Card Reader. There are a few restrictions, as follows:
1. There is a $10 minimum purchase for credit card purchases.
2. Sale or discounted items will be assessed a 2.5% surcharge when purchased with a credit card.
3. Since the Square Card Reader only works on my phone, we can only accept credit cards when I am
personally present in the store. We are looking at a work-around that will allow us to accept cards
full time without incurring the cost of another data plan.

We finally have our sidewalk sign in place out on Bloomfield Avenue. This already is paying dividends as it is driving more customers down the walkway to our shop in the back.

Now for a few new items in the store this month:

We are currently researching the origin and value of these amazing Gothic Windsor dining chairs. We have two in the shop
and four more offsite. Once we establish a value, we will be offering them for sale. What we know so far is that they were made in England and were a special order item.

This vintage camphor wood trunk.is ideal for storage, it also would make a great coffee table. Add a glass top or leave it as is.

Give Mom a fabulous bouquet of flowers for Mother's Day and put them in this incredible crystal vase. Over 10 inches tall, 8 inches wide, it weighs over 7 pounds!

We have a pair of beautifully framed paintings, each depicting a Venice scene. They are priced individually at $45.

Lastly a pair of framed oriental prints on silk. each measures about 3 feet tall.
